Here is a quick guide to get started on budget, easily accessible oral hygiene products.
A quick intro - I'm Jennifer, a mother of a lively 3 year old girl and a qualified dental hygienist/therapist with over 17 years experience in the dental industry.
If you want to introduce oral hygiene before their teeth appear, you can gently clean your babies mouth with a clean damp flannel. This gets them used to you being in their mouth and the sensation of cleaning.
What do I need?
- A small soft toothbrush - Tesco sell a 4 pack for £1 these can be purchased here - Results for “childrens toothbrush” - Tesco Groceries
- A fluoride toothpaste with at least 1000ppm. Don't be fooled by brand names, I use Tesco or Lidl's own and they do the same job at a fraction of the price. if your child is sensitive to the taste look for a children's toothpaste, they tend to be more bland.
And lastly - time and patience, they may resist toothbrushing at first. I will cover this in my next blog "No nonsense guide to brushing your babies teeth"
Hope this helps!
